World Trauma Day, 17 October 2017

Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital is hosting “World Trauma Day” with many allied medical services which promises an exciting morning.

  • Gillets Fire department will demonstrate a simulated extrication from a car wreck sponsored by Farm Boy towing, very exciting stuff.
  • SAP Search and Rescue will provide a display of their tools of trade. They are responsible for recovery of victims from rivers, dams and valleys.
  • NSRI will have an interactive display educating the public on the work that they do, keeping our dams and oceans safe, helping those in distress.
  • A snake specialist from Phezulu will bring his snakes, critters and expertise, allowing encounters with harmless snakes. Very importantly what to do if bitten and how to identify our local snakes.
  • Our on premises blood labs will have a station up with displays of bacteria grown in petri dishes.
  • SANBS will be on site with a satellite blood donor clinic. All welcome to donate
  • Jackpersad & Partners x-ray department has offered free health education in regards to mammograms, well in line with October being Breast Cancer awareness month
  • Staff will have an opportunity to try their hand with the difficult intubation station, intravenous access arm and CPR at the BLS station.
  • Public is invited to test their hand in doing CPR
  • Our devoted Ambulances will also show their stuff, ER24 and Meditech
  • Without Medical Reps we would be hard pressed to get medications as needed and they too will be featuring by supporting us with some small gifts for lucky draws.
  • Our in-house physios working together will also be there talking about managing acute injury and prevention.

With all these interesting events it promise to be an exciting day, come and see what it is all about, bring the kids!
